Bethany de Forest
Stereorama

In Stereorama, the third solo show at KochxBos Gallery, Bethany de Forest focuses on her experiments with stereophotography and optical illusion techniques such as lenticular and Pepper's Ghost. She has definitely sought the limits of these techniques to give her work a visual and virtual boost, the art is literally moving.

With this, Forest is taking a new route to portray its detailed scale models. Art and science touch each other in Stereorama, with a magical result.

Public guerilla intervention
by Dadara

31 October, 2018 @ 7 AM a 27 x 3 x 3 meter fence was placed around the 'iamsterdam monument' in front of the RijksMuseum. Now that most cultural free spaces are gone, artists should be free to start transforming public space into free space.

KunstRai 2018
Look here for an overview of our KunstRai collection

Claire Partington, Ray Caesar, Zoé Byland and Meryl Donoghue

We are extremely proud to present our artists in an exhibition that brings together four master visual storytellers in the center of the KunstRAI.

Claire Partington built a name for herself world wide with big, historical ceramic figures that sure comment on our time. Meryl Donoghue contributes to the exhibition with life-sized photographic works: dark literary tales with an open ending. We're launching an exclusive collection of brand new works by Ray Caesar, master of the delicate suspense and last but not least we're presenting new works by Zoé Byland, monochromatic paintings in an atmosphere of film noir, mixed with pop culture and science fiction icons.

Dadara

Please order here The ultimate Dadara book "Open your mind - So we can use your data"
This beautifully crafted hardcover edition by Dadara and KochxBos Publishers is a record of his full body of work.

From the Dadababy speakers, to the massive installations during the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, USA to Greyman Statue of No Liberty.
Hence this astonishing book, which is a truly collaborative creation. It took a full year to select the best work and the wildest ideas, resulting in this career-spanning retrospective. We are very grateful that Elizabeth Scarborough and Gert van Veen contributed with their aticles to this book. This body of work is a wonderful overview of Dadara’s art through the years and a small glimpse into the mind of its creator.

Martine Johanna
Dark Matter

A positive dialogue in swirling colour masses

We are excited to present Martine Johanna’s first solo exhibition at KochxBos Gallery, Dark Matter.
“When I started working, large, threatening, abstract shapes of darkness appeared. As a child I once made friends with the shadows in my room, and today, in a similar manner, I enter a relationship with all aspects of myself that I find unpleasant. These forms create a positive dialogue, with the introspective (child) woman and her experiences, in swirling colour masses.” - Martine Johanna

Review Creative Boom

Wanna have creative inspiration in Amsterdam?
Check out this blog, we're at number 4 :-)

"There are many big art museums in Amsterdam (and we’ll get to those in a second), but if you’re interested in contemporary art then you’ll also want to check out some of the hipper independent galleries. And you don’t get much cooler than KochxBos.
Although it’s a tiny place, you can feel the spirit of cutting-edge art flow through you as you peruse some pretty amazing artwork."

Power to the People?

#PowerToThePeople? #KeepOneShareOne

Latest news & pictures on Instagram kochxbos and facebook.com/kochxbos.gallery.amsterdam

We invite you to take part in a radical get together where you can share your positivity and revolutionary ideas in collaboration with Sarah Maple.

The gallery will become an inclusive space for debate, creation and interaction between you, your friends and the artist in residence. Bring along your good vibes and wildest ideas.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Sarah worked two weeks in our gallery, the space turned into a bustling meeting place where many people got together and shared their (revolutionary) ideas.

Through the theme of “Power to the people?” we encouraged interaction between the artist and the visitors, spontaneous creativity, and lively debates that will hopefully lead to a new, positive art movement which we will all be a part of.

The various themes of the exhibition we were censorship and freedom of expression (‘Read my lips', 'Your opinion is wrong’), the question of nationalism vs. the refugee crisis  (‘Go Home’ and ‘England's Glory’) as well as sexism and misogyny (‘Do not be a Dick with your Dick’).

Article in Parool newspaper (Dutch)

Beginning February 1st, the exhibition started developing through works of art created on a daily basis. In addition to producing new work, artists such as  Pipsqueakwashere, Bethany de Forest and Roos van der Vliet were open to collaboration. Resulting in a huge street art wall, portraits and paintings. Interviews and discussions were held and our gallery space welcomed a many visitors’ ideas from all over the world.

Positive art movement - how? We need you!

-  Sarah will be available Monday through Saturday from 12:00 to 16:00  (gallery is open until 18:00 excl. Sundays). Come and join us, share inspirations, ideas and thoughts.

Keep One, Share One: There were (and still are) several posters, buttons and stickers available. Take two—one for yourself and one to post on the street, or give away to a friend or a stranger.

- Every day Sarah created political postcards and window-statements in response to a current news item, which will be exposed in the gallery and be posted online.
